Intel Accelerate Your Code - International programming contestWhat ? Two times a year (january-june, july-december), Intel is organizing a parallel programming and software optimization contest.
Most participants are students, but professional developers from the public and private sectors are welcome too !
This winter, the contest is running on XeonPHI co processors (60 cores per processor, 240 threads !) and the goal is to find camouflage patterns in sattelite images. Let's find Waldo !
When ? With 2 contests a year, you're always sure to have a contest running. So feel free to tell your students to participate and use it as a tool to promote optimized and parallel programming.
The current contest will end dec 31th 2013. You can enter and drop of the contest at any time during the period, so you don't have to code dec 31th ;-). Another contest will start early 2014.
Prizes ? 14.000 euros in amazon gift cards in total. Some are for best individual results, some are for best class results (class = 20 contestants or more). Participating as a class with a professor will increase your chances to win. Details : Terms and conditions. Participants from 25 countries are allowed to participate.
Hardware ? Contestants can upload their code to our XeonPHI benchmarking cluster as often as they want, allowing them to experiment with the hardware. You can also benchmark at home : benchmark datafiles
We provide free and open source online courses for you to learn quickly and efficiently.
You'll have access to our automated cluster with Xeon PHI co-processors ("MIC", 240 threads, 60 cores), 2 socket and 4 socket servers during the contest to test your code as often as you want.
